Skin Earth is a website that invites the audience to imagine the world of skin microbiome if they have access to consume the social media as their nutrient source. What might happen to their human holobiont? What are the impacts on their own life?

Design Value

1.Design for a more-than-human world
This project attempts to emphasize the design for a more than human world. I hope to raise awareness around the unseen yet essential role microorganisms play in our ecosystem and specifically display the close relationship between skin microbes and its human holobiont from a social standpointIt is also a calling for a holistic view on the ecosystem with strings attached to different species.
2. Media Impact Manifest
This project also tries to manifest the Marshall Mcluhan’s metaphor that any form of media is the extension of human’s mind and body, and it is constantly stimulating and amplifying of our senses and emotions. Therefore the design will draw attention to the media impact on our well-being.
3. System Thinking
Lastly, this project values and displays the circular causality in complex systems in the hope of providing an alternative view to the dominated view of the system, which is the linear hierarchy
